THE GANS
PRESSING ON
“FORGETTING WHAT IS BEHIND AND STRAINING TOWARDS WHAT IS AHEAD, I PRESS ON TOWARDS THE GOAL TO WIN THE PRIZE TO WHICH GOD HAS CALLED ME HEAVENWARD IN CHRIST JESUS.” (Phil 3:13-14)

Praise God with me and my family my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. It is to His glory that we remember the good things that He has brought to pass within the last few months of our earthly journey.
Greetings!! Yes, like the Apostle Paul who is always grateful to the Lord for the remembrance of all his partners in the gospel so we too are grateful to the Lord for every single one of you who have played a vital role in our ministry. Though many would not consider themselves as gospel peddlers or preachers yet their part in praying, giving and encouraging the saints is not overlooked by the True and Living God. Thank you once again for many of you who have been generous with your time, talent and tireless encouragement.
Forgetting What is Behind
This has become more and more of a challenge. When we saw people coming to the Lord in Portugal, being able to share the blessings with a Moroccan family and seeing many co-workers being encouraged in Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia. (That’s what went on in the last few months) Living by past experiences and looking always at the “Good Old Days” and boasting of past achievements can all be a subtle form of pride, however, praising God for what He has done is appropriate and pressing on to what is to come is exciting. The Lord is always doing a new thing and we want to walk with Him and experience Him in a fresh new way.
Meeting people and hearing feedbacks of what the Lord did in and through His weak servant is in most cases a humbling experience. Of course no matter what we are doing we expect God to bring us success. It is when the Lord is with us that success is assured. This is only possible when we have continually and consistently abide in the Lord, praying without ceasing and being totally and utterly dependent on Him, watching Him at work.
Remembering what is needed ahead
A couple of weeks ago I discovered that I have had a rapid lost of weight. I lost about 11 kilos within three weeks. After a test or two I was informed that both my eyes have cataract and I am now a diabetic. My white cells are a little low and so is my blood count. I also have liver inflamed due to heavy alcohol consumption in my early years as a seaman. So….. we are living with the wear and tear. This body is only a temporary commodity that has been given to us. Yes, we need to take good care of it as much as we can as unto the Lord. But we must not despair when things don’t go according to our plans. I am still pressing on… I need to be reminded of the necessity to care for the temple of the Holy Spirit. Your prayers will be much appreciated.
The Lord has yet much to do with me and hopefully through me as well. I have been reminded time and again concerning the desperate need to share the good news with the many millions and billions of people who have yet to hear. The church as a whole has a responsibility. For us in OM it is always a challenge to try to mobilise as many of God’s people as we possibly can. The days are short and evil. We must make the most of time, opportunity and resources for His glory and for the extension of His kingdom. It’s a privilege to be a part of the team here in London with so much happening. At times we can just praise the Lord for all that He is doing but at other times it is such a pain to see the thousands lost in eternity every single day. The war and aids alone is enough challenges for us. Will you pray for more labourers and resources to be release for His kingdom’s sake?
Towards the Goal…..
What is your goal in life is a cliché heard everywhere in the world on the lips of Christians and non-Christians. The result of at least 80% or more has always been about the happiness of the success and happiness of the individual. Job satisfaction and career success have been the focus of most people. What about “SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS”? What is it for me and what is it for us all as Christians to begin to seriously and decisively focus on the kingdom of God? What would happen to us and to our world at large? At this challenge I know I have to set new goals or a new goal for my life and for my family. Travelling, teaching and preaching doesn’t mean much if it is only for job satisfaction and personal ambition (to build a name for oneself).
Our High Calling
God has called us as a family to glorify Him in all things. After all HE IS A GLORIOUS GOD!!
So whether we eat or drink or whatever we do in word and deed we will do it for the glory of God whose name is above all name.
Also for Bee Lee
It may not be preaching and teaching for Bee Lee but indeed being a part of what Kenny is doing through prayer, moral and practical support makes it a family affair. It is a family ministry. Debbie is also a part of it. Bee Lee remains faithful behind the scene where what is done is not scene or heard by many but it is no less significant, just like everyone else in the office whose ministry is a support ministry. Please pray that Bee Lee will have the grace, the strength and the patience to persevere on with the daily mundane role as a housewife and mother and a ministry support person. It’s a challenge.
Debbie’s Corner
Since starting University at Kings College London in September, I’ve been learning all sorts of “interesting” things about mathematics that many of you probably don’t even want to think about. In any case, I’m enjoying this new aspect and experience of studying as well as the challenge that it presents. As some of you might or might not know, I’ve been also getting involved in the Overseas Christian Fellowship (OCF) which involves students from several Universities of London and funnily is made up mostly of Singaporeans and Malaysians. This means that any event involving food is always well attended (just kidding). As usual, this little box of mine is quite limiting so if you ever want to know what else is going on in my life, please feel free to check out my blog, which I try to update just about every Sunday (http://www.debbiegan.blogspot.com/).
Your Partnership
Partners normally have equal share. So your reward is no less than for those of us who are preaching and teaching. We all have different roles but the same reward if only we remain faithful in the task that the Lord gives us. Jesus said in John 4:37-39, both sower and reaper
Will reap the harvest, especially if we faint not.
You have been special to us. We pray that the Lord’s special blessing will fall on you and your family this Christmas and the coming New Year. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUAL SUPPORT FOR US IN THE MINISTRY.
For to us a Saviour is Born
Kenny, Bee Lee & Debbie
